Illustrated Notes from a Life in Transition
I once commented to a friend that my life has been built on skills one can carry in a suitcase. An Air Force brat, I have always been most at home somewhere between departing and arriving. Today, I live both in rural upstate New York and city-center Dublin, my laptop and my travel brushes being equally engaged.
With increasing frequency since 2020, I have found myself reaching for a pencil and sketchpad to capture my surroundings. There is something very personal about a sketch. Beyond individual style and skill, the act of sketching binds the artist to their experiences. Even in a quick gesture, there is no point and shoot option. You have to look and to see to set the image on paper. You will find my notes are more "Metropolitan Diary" than artist's process - a glimpse of moving on (or not) from New York to Dublin.
